East Fork Debacle
Well the DEP came out to East Fork and looked it over and said in effect "Let's spend more money to do more unneeded work and bankrupt the county". Are we getting the same treatment that Snowshoe got with their "environmental issues". Is the DEP as concerned about the effects of mountain top removal as they seem to be about our tiny hill of dirt? I say to Senator Helmick "Step up and fix the problem you created". |

Re: East Fork Debacle
DEP is not satisfied with the present sod cover and wants an extravagant plastic top costing hundreds of thousands of dollars the Commission simply does not have. I am advised that the ground water is now protected and the problem is essentially resolved. |

Re: East Fork Debacle
Thanks for the reply Marty. Does the cc have anything in writing from when this entire design was first set up. If they do & sod was the answer for the final covering & the solution has since changed, I don't think the dep. can make you change it now. You're the lawyer here how do you see it? |

I see that negotiation and a strong stance is the way to embrace this problem. There is always room for compromise and a reasonable solution. Look at Snowshoe....a near 3 million dollar fine "agreed away". I would hope that Senator Helmick could exercise his "pull" and get the ear of the DEP to act reasonably in these discussions. After all, he was on the Commission when Howes "gave us their property". |

How convenient that SS discovered all these upgrades that need to be done after the PSD officially takes over their crappy (pardon the pun) system! |
